| Hey Trader, As the country begins to “reopen” and businesses look to get back on their feet, it seems the division caused by coronavirus is only getting deeper. A lot of folks… myself included… are over the idea of shutting down an entire economy over a virus that’s caused less worldwide deaths so far than obesity kills in America in a single year. (For context, roughly 300,000 Americans die every year due to obesity… while worldwide COVID-19 deaths are currently under 265,000.) Honestly, what disturbs me far more than the threat of this virus is the vitriol I’ve seen spewed toward anyone who dares to attempt to get back to a sense of normalcy… Even if that simply means going back to work so they can feed their family. Left and right, small businesses are going bankrupt while million and billion-dollar corporations siphon off SBA funds. But when a local business owner laces up their boots to try and save their livelihood from going under, they’re publicly shamed and boycotted. Listen, I’m not trying to downplay 74,000 U.S. deaths. It truly is a tragedy. But the cure can’t be worse than the disease… And as it stands, millions of lives are being adversely impacted by the “preventive” measures that have been put in place. You’ve seen the unemployment numbers. Now, maybe you’re someone who’s been fortunate enough to work remotely through this mess. As a trader, I fall into that camp… and I couldn’t be more thankful. But maybe you’re not. Maybe you’re someone who’s been practically unemployed for nearly two months and is just looking to get back to work and provide for your family. If that’s you… and if you’ve received pushback or been shamed for simply trying to earn a living… Hold your head high, and don’t let the negativity get you down. And if you’re someone who’s doing the shaming… Don’t be a mouthpiece for the fear-mongering media. That’s exactly what they want.
