| | | Dear Readers,
I'm very curious – as I'm sure you are too – about the latest trends and opportunities in the Green Hydrogen industry.
Some people are looking at the recent run-on hydrogen investments in Europe and thinking that they might be a bit overvalued.
But real opportunity still exists – especially for American investors. Right now, the U.S. Congress is pushing for billions of dollars in green energy projects.
Meanwhile, in Texas, there is a severe problem with the state's energy infrastructure due to recent extreme weather. Snow might be common over in Germany, but it's not something you see happening in Dallas very often.
Accord the state, pipes have frozen, locking out the flow of natural gas. The state is shutting out natural gas flows to neighbors, and people are sleeping in their cars because their energy grid was minutes from failure.
There are images of frozen wind turbines being defrosted by helicopters and petrochemicals. And oil-and-gas interests are quick to argue that these windmills are somehow responsible.
Unfortunately, the issue is that Texas windmills aren't treated with the same chemicals to prevent snow and ice buildup because they are based in Texas, where frigid temperatures are uncommon.
All of this is further evidence of a system that requires upgrades. And even though Texas and other parts of America have enjoyed a boon of energy independence from shale fracking in oil and gas, another energy source is ready to accelerate.
And that's not just in the United States but worldwide.
Again, I'm talking about hydrogen.
You can invest in hydrogen in many ways – a cheap, abundant energy source that requires little more than separating the element from water.
And if you're looking to get in right now on a company with a substantial risk/reward ratio, look no further than French gases specialist Air Liquide.
Let's Talk French Gas
I'll be honest upfront.
Air Liquide is not a company that is going to make you rich quickly. This isn't going to be one of those stocks that run up 100% because several Reddit investors targeted it.
It's not speculative. This is a company founded in 1902, with a history of supplying industrial gases and services to medical, chemical, and electronic manufacturers.
This is a safe, conservative way to profit from the coming hydrogen boom in the long term.
Headquartered in France, the company produces gases, such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and hydrogen, used in oil and steel processing, paper and glass production, and healthcare or the photovoltaic semiconductor industries.
Air Liquide supplies its customers in part with pipelines installed and maintained in-house and also provides propulsion gases for the space industry.
The company has just announced that it will be joining forces with Siemens Energy, the Siemens subsidiary that was spun off only a few months ago in the field of hydrogen.
The two companies signed a corresponding letter of intent.
Large hydrogen projects are to be developed jointly with customers on an industrial scale soon, the two companies announced. In mid-January, Siemens Energy had already agreed on a memorandum of understanding with the state investment company Mubadala Investment to expand the hydrogen economy in Abu Dhabi.
Air Liquide is to lay the foundation for series production of electrolyzers in Europe. The focus is on Germany and France.
German Economics Minister Peter Altmaier and his French counterpart Bruno Le Maire welcomed the project. A planned large-scale plant by Air Liquide and Siemens Energy in Normandy is to produce 200 megawatts with the help of several electrolyzers (the machines that separate hydrogen from water molecules).
Alongside the gas group Linde, Air Liquide is regarded as a specialist in this sought-after technology of the future.
Expansion of the Hydrogen Infrastructure
Air Liquide plans to build 400 hydrogen refueling stations in Germany alone.
In many other countries (currently France, Denmark, Canada, and the USA), Air Liquide is building huge hydrogen plants to promote industrial use.
Finally, let's take a look at the Air Liquide shares.
It is not - as already written - a stock that will make you rich quickly.
This also becomes clear when we now look at the 3-year chart. | | | | Source: Barchart
Above all, this is a solid dividend investment that allows you to profit from the hydrogen boom over the longer term and without major risks.
If you're an American investor, you can purchase shares of Air Liquide "Over the Counter" (OTC) with the ticker AIQUY.
You can contact your broker or log into your online brokerage. Given that OTC stocks typically have some liquidity challenges, set a limit order and wait for a seller to come to you.
A limit order of around $32 is a fine entry point for the long term.
