From Interbank Trading to Trading my Own Account...
How did I do it?
I had just made one of the most difficult decisions of my life.
After a successful 14-year career trading currencies in the Interbank market at JP Morgan...
I decided to leave the bank and open a new and exciting chapter in my life.
The reason?
That ambitious and young American executive that had been transferred from NY to Toronto to oversee JP Morgan's currency trading operation in Canada...
Decided to settle down "north" of the border...
Not wanting to go back to the usual 12-hour a day schedule that is common in the world of "Big Apple Banking"...
I closed that chapter. It was time to move on.
If you have a corporate career and a family, you probably know what I'm talking about.
But what would have been a scary decision for most people...
Like leaving the security and prestige of a tier-1 corporate job...
And starting a brand new career as an independent FOREX, Stocks, or Futures trader.
It wasn't at all that difficult for me.
(Well, at least not in the beginning, but that's a story for another day :))
Why?
Because I was taking with me the strategic mindset to trading I had developed while trading for the bank at the highest level...
And a "secret weapon" to make money in the market every day that I learned when I was just starting out.
I could literally take these two things anywhere and start a brand new career from scratch again.
And I actually consider them more precious today than the most cutting-edge technology available these days.
I'm not exaggerating.
How can I be so sure about that?
Because they helped me rise the ranks in my trading career like nothing else.
I went from Junior Trader trading Scandinavian currencies...
To managing the currency trading operation in the Canadian Office for the bank...
And then finally to facing my next big step with confidence.
My "secret weapon" coupled with a strategic mindset allowed me to kickstart my new and exciting independent trading career.
One that started in the 90's and still continues to this day... All while being there for my family all the time.
