Apr 20, 2022 Spin Control Image Source: Fox News The Florida Senate adopted a measure Wednesday that repeals Disney's unique self-governing status granted over 50 years ago, following the company's public battle with Republicans over a contentious parental rights law. The Republican-controlled chamber passed the bill by a vote of 23–16, which would end the company's unique status, which basically permits it to self-govern on its enormous site near Orlando. The Reedy Creek Improvement Act was put into law in May 1967 by Gov. Claude Kirk in response to Disney's lobbying efforts.
