President Biden's absence during the peak of the pandemic, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would have made the situation considerably worse.
However, when Biden assumed office in January 2021, there had been almost 400,000 pandemic-related fatalities in the United States under President Trump.
In the 16 months since Democrats took control of the White House and Congress, the virus claimed the lives of another 600,000 individuals in the United States.
Democrats want to spend even more money on pandemic assistance, but Republicans are adamant that the plan must be paid for.
