On Thursday, the Select Committee investigating the Capitol incident delivered subpoenas to five Republican congressmen, with Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs and Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry stating that they will not comply.
The committee was chastised by Perry for issuing a news release revealing the subpoenas before serving individual members.
Biggs and Perry may face charges of contempt of Congress if they refuse to sit for interviews. Several Trump supporters, like former chief strategist Steve Bannon and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, have already been found in contempt by the House of Representatives.
The Justice Department is in charge of pursuing allegations of contempt of Congress. But that all can change with a simple majority vote. |
