On Thursday, the SPY and QQQ gapped higher while the DIA opened flat. From there, all 3 major indices made a morning rally to the day's highs at about 11 am. However, once again, the whipsaw kicked in, and a selloff took all 3 indices back down to their open value or below in just 30 minutes before grinding sideways for a couple of hours. At that point, the bulls rallied us back up to within shouting distance of the highs (or to new Highs in the DIA) again. This action is giving us white-bodied, Spinning Top type candles in the SPY, DIA, and QQQ. It also saw the QQQ and SPY fail a retest of their T-line (8ema). With 30 minutes left in the day, all 10 sectors are green, with Technology, Consumer Cyclical, and Basic Materials leading the way higher. The VXX is down about three-quarters of a percent, and T2122 remains in the midrange but is climbing at 78. The 10-year bond yields fell back to 3.037%, and Oil (WTI) fell 1.75%. Once again, all this action took place on low (well below average) volume. So, again, markets appear to be waiting for Jay Powell's Friday speech.
