One of the indicators bears a bit of a funny name — the dead cat bounce.
It’s a little morbid, but that’s the point.
The term was coined by the late Raymond DeVoe Jr., the idea being that even a dead cat will bounce if dropped from a great enough height, and the same applies to stocks.
Last week, I believe we saw dozens of these dead stocks lift dramatic heights in such a fashion.
Crypto stocks like Marathon Digital Holdings as well as Carvana almost doubled, while Bed Bath & Beyond tripled after announcing it was in danger of bankruptcy.
These aren’t healthy businesses, or healthy moves in their share prices.
These are speculators trying to make a quick buck, and short sellers selling their shares.
