HILS above $1.30 is my favorite idea right now. I think this could see $2+ today. Good news and high relative volume with lots of range.
BBAI, BZFD, and GNS are all on breakout watch headed into the weekend. BBAI above the $3.30's, BZFD above the $2.70's, and GNS above $5.
MSGM, SHFS, and PBLA are moving this morning on high relative volume. Short interest is pretty high on MSGM and PBLA too. MSGM at 9% of a tiny 460K float and PBLA at 55% of a tiny 753K float.
Relative volume compares volume of a stock to its average over a specific period of time. It's expressed as a ratio, as a multiple of the average volume. Above 1 indicates higher trading activity than average.
There are 3 main pieces of information that relative volume provides.
Volatility: High relative volume can also be an indicator of brewing volatility. For example, say a stock moves up or down $0.50 in a day on 1 million shares of volume. If another day 5 million shares traded (a relative volume of 5), that could move the stock $2.50 in one direction. High relative volume doesn't necessarily cause increased volatility. Trading volume accounts for both the buying and selling of shares. So any price movement will depend on the balance of buyers and sellers in the market for that stock. By the same token, a relative volume of 5 could see a stock move $2.50 in one direction. Or it could see the same stock move $5.00 in one direction.
MSGM ran from $2.01 - $14.43 across 4-days at the beginning of 2023 so if it holds a base in the middle $4's, I'll look for it to continue higher. They have a high cash need but low offering and dilution ability. Today it's trading 16x its 10-day ADV (average daily volume) and is up 97% as I type, so I'll be watching for big moves.
I'm not too excited about PBLA but the short interest and rise in liquidity this morning will keep my attention. If this can hold above $1.80 then maybe middle $2's. However, the catalyst is pretty weak here so it might just fade off once better ideas emerge near the open.
SHFS is cash flow positive and trading less than its $1.64 book. Up over 30% as I type on 29x its 10-day ADV this 3.66M float might be a runner today. The chart is terrible but the liquidity is there and the range is to $5 so I'm watching for spikes above $1.20.
