Weekly Wrap:
The Big Ad Game

Turn Your Images On

Chad Stone,

Dear Loyal Reader,

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

I know a lot of you are pretty excited about the big game later today, so I want to keep this note on the lighter side.

I’ll preface this by letting you know that I’m an Atlanta Falcons fan. After six years, I’m finally in the acceptance stage of the grieving process. And I can even appreciate a good 28-3 joke. (Tom Brady retiring for real this time helps.)

But with my team in the doldrums, I’m actually more excited about another thing this year: the commercials.

Remember how many cryptocurrency ads we had to sit through during last year’s big tilt? That didn’t end well … especially for FTX.

It spurred an interesting article I just came across on CNBC that talks about the Super Bowl ad curse.

Some of these companies that spent $6.5 million for a 30-second time slot last year got absolutely crushed in the markets in 2022. For example:

  • Amazon’s stock lost 35% of its value.

  • Coinbase stock dropped 60%.

  • And Carvana lost 90%!

And now I’m curious about what companies will suffer the same fate in 2023.

Will Super Bowl staple Anheuser-Busch InBev, with its slate of ads touting whatever ridiculous new flavor of Bud Light, lose out?

What about car companies like Ford or General Motors?

I’m most curious about what we’ll see on the artificial intelligence front, as Microsoft and Alphabet continue their AI arms race.

What about you? What company or industry do you think is going to lose out, despite spending $233,000 per second on ad space during this year’s big game?

Email us at StockPower@MoneyandMarkets.com with your own predictions. Feel free to send along any good 28-3 jokes or memes you have as well. (I can take it, I promise!)

Go here to reserve your spot now.

I mentioned companies that got crushed during last year’s market sell-off above.

And you’ve probably noticed that some of these same stocks are rallying hard in 2023. Carvana is up around 140% in 2023 alone!

Maybe you’re worried about missing out on the start of the next bull market.

But our chief investment strategist, Adam O’Dell, knows something bigger is going on.

He’s calling it “The Next Big Short.”

And when the bottom falls out again, he’s expecting his No. 1 stock to trade against will hand investors a potential 2,000% return.

If you’re worried this is a “fake out” rally, I urge you to sign up for Adam’s presentation. It’s airing in two days!

Click here to add your name to the guest list now, and note Tuesday, February 14, at 1 p.m. Eastern on your calendar. That’s when Adam will tell you everything you need to know to take advantage as one stock crashes back down to earth.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Have a fantastic week.

Until next time,
