Published By Banyan Hill Publishing | | | | Published By Banyan Hill Publishing | | | | Banyan Nation, Today is Memorial Day, the day we remember soldiers that fell in service to their country. I'm currently in Lima, but the day has me thinking... If all goes as planned, I’m going to be in Paris with my family in July, visiting my wife’s old college roommate. And while the girls are reliving their college hijinks in the Latin Quarter, I plan to take a daytrip with my two boys to the Normandy battlefields. If you’re an American and you haven’t been to Omaha Beach in Normandy, the site of the D-Day landing in World War II … well, you really need to fix that. Seeing the 9,387 white crosses and stars of David lined up in neat little rows is an experience that is hard to describe. You might feel a complicated mix of emotions, but it makes the experience of war and the sacrifice that comes with it feel very real. (It’s not unlike visiting the site of the Twin Towers memorial in New York.) And it may sound clichΓ©, but if these young men hadn’t been willing to give their lives, the world really would be speaking German right now. So again, on your next trip to Europe, make a quick stop in northern France to pay your respects. If I had my way, it would be a required field trip for all American high schoolers. | | | Adam O’Dell recently closed out a third of his position on a trade for 76% profits in just two weeks. All he did was capitalize on a major flaw in the banking sector using an “off Wall Street” trade. He believes many more opportunities will be up for grabs in the coming months. On Wednesday, May 31 at 1 p.m. Eastern, he’s going live to show you how to take advantage of this banking chaos. The core of Lima sits atop a long cliff wall overlooking the Pacific Ocean. And if it's not too foggy, it’s really a pleasure to ride a bike along the seawall. At the end of the seawall, the Morro Solar Mountain looms over the city. I’m feeling adventurous, so I think I just might go for the summit today. And I suspect there might be a cold beer waiting for me at the base. (My view of Lima, Peru.) Wherever you are this Memorial Day, enjoy a day without the noise and chaos of the market. It will be there waiting for us tomorrow! Until then, Charles Sizemore Chief Editor, The Banyan Edge | | | Banks are in turmoil right now. But it’s much worse than people think.
