Dear Investor,
There are two regimes competing for dominance over capital markets right now – A.I. and the U.S. debt ceiling.
On the one hand, tech has moved a long way on the back of A.I. bullishness.
On the other hand, as I explained yesterday, the debt ceiling drama has created the potential for massive U.S. treasury debt issuance. The resulting higher rates buoys the U.S. dollar, has put inflation fears on the back burner, and could push equities lower though A.I.s bullish influence creates a powerful bid.
We saw this dynamic writ large as we poured through name after name in today’s “Sizzle Stocks” session. The recent tech rally doesn’t necessarily look overdone but the pressure of higher rates hasn’t yet made its way through equity markets.
This battle matters. And it’s playing out in real time.
