Our July 2023 report examines concerns that the majority of the returns in the ongoing stock market rally are being generated by mega-cap stocks.
Are the Market's Gains Too Concentrated in Big Tech?
The good news is that the stock market has been in rally mode since October 2022. The bad news (at least for some) is that a majority of the returns are being driven by mega-cap U.S. companies, almost exclusively in tech.
In fact, 90% of the S&P 500's Q1 2023 gains were attributable to just 10 stocks. And in Q2, the enthusiasm for artificial intelligence (AI) led to a buying spree in shares of some of the U.S.'s biggest tech companies, with the biggest players accounting for a majority of the index's year-to-date gains.
In our free July 2023 Zacks Market Strategy Report 1, we take a closer look at these issues, as well as how artificial intelligence (AI) could drive the next wave of economic growth and productivity.
