Market Review:
Trending.
The month of June starts at 4617.75. That is 16.75 points below the high of July 4634.50. If the market is to move through those 16.75 points, plus one more tick, then we are continuing the uptrend. The goal of this market over the first few days of August should be to get to and through 4634.50.
The other side of the equation, breaking the trend, is down at the low of July 4411.25. Macro trends can start to show fractures as their smaller counterparts are put in jeopardy. For instance, last week's high was 4634.50. The Weekly uptrend has the same goal as the monthly trend. However, last week's low was 4553.75. 4553.75 was set on the same day as 4634.50. On the daily trend basis, the uptrend starts to have a problem at yesterday's low, 4595.25. However, we have already traded higher than yesterday's high, 4619.25.
Among the earnings reporters today are Electronic Arts Inc (EA) and Allstate Corp (ALL). Both report after the bell today. These two stocks will give us a brief glimpse of the picture of the overall market. That view can be changed several different times by several different reportings until it is ultimately over-shadowed later this week by AAPL and AMNZ.
