SEPT 08, 2023         SCOTT WELSH’S ANATOMY OF A GREAT TRADE Study This Great Trade To Gain IPO Mastery  We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again:   Huge winners can come from new companies.  Not every IPO (Initial Public Offering) turns into Apple or Amazon, but there is a lot of potential in stocks that are only a few years old.  Take InMode (INMD), for example.  In November 2020, INMD had only been trading for around a year. But it’s in the Medical sector.  And the Medical sector is volatile. Big moves (and big falls) live in this group. Nonetheless, INMD had just printed its first 12-month simple moving average (SMA) calculation in August 2020. As soon as it does that, we look for two consecutive closes above that newly-formed SMA. In November, we got it, and we could have entered at the open of the month at $18.52.   After that, we would ride the trade on the Monthly chart until the price closed below the SMA.  In INMD’s case, that means we would’ve exited in February 2022 at $48.93. That’s a 164% gain. And, of course, the stock went even higher than that at its peak.  New stocks in high-growth sectors can really move.
