Ever played the game "What if?" |
It's a favorite in my house. At least, it was when the boys were younger. |
"What if… we wake up tomorrow and the sun's gone out?" |
Or, "What if… our limbs switch places and suddenly we're walking on our hands and using our feet and toes to type, eat, and so on?" |
It's fun to see how outrageous we can make the scenarios and then challenge the kids to consider possible outcomes in each "what if" event. |
It's Friday. We're in the final stretch of the week. But after everything that's happened this week, a lot of "what if" questions have begun to pile up. |
What if the government shuts down Saturday night? How long will it stay down? What damage will this do to the economy… and our credit rating, which has already been notched down to AA+ from Triple-A? |
Most importantly, what will this do to the markets already roiled by fear and uncertainty? |
What if oil prices continue to rise? They're already pushing up against $100 a barrel, squeezing Americans at the pump and disrupting the hope that interest rates will stay steady. If inflation spikes again thanks to rising energy prices, Fed rate increases become more likely. |
What if Las Vegas bartenders succumb to the strike fever currently sweeping across the country? What if this guy👇was the scab? |
