Howdy!

Let's rev into this week just like Spain's Marta García, who won the inaugural F1 Academy championship during this weekend's U.S. Grand Prix festivities in Austin, Texas. Keep those engines running — there's even more sports news ahead.

⚾ Ain't over 'til it's over

The GIST: From late-inning heroics to lights out pitching performances to legendary first pitches, October baseball was at its best this weekend. And there's even more on deck, with two potential World Series berth–clinchers tonight.

Texas Rangers feeling grand, force Game 7 vs. Houston Astros: The reigning champ 'Stros seemed destined for a third straight World Series appearance, but the Rangers said not so fast, winning last night's road Game 6 9–2 to set up the best two words in sports: Game 7, tonight at 8:03 p.m. ET.

  • A Houston win at home (something they've struggled with) sends them back to the game's biggest stage, while a Rangers' victory secures their first Fall Classic appearance since 2011. It all comes down to this.

Philadelphia Phillies one win away from World Series return: This series is giving Halloween spirit. After the Arizona Diamondbacks returned from the dead (aka a three-run deficit) to pull off a stunning Game 4 victory on Friday, the Phils did the monster mash on Saturday, blasting three home runs in their 6–1 Game 5 win.

  • Now one dub away from a second straight World Series berth, the Fightins can clinch back at home — where they're undefeated this postseason — tonight at 5:07 p.m. ET. Don't miss it.

🏈 Need to know: Week 7

Source: Baltimore Ravens/X

The GIST: Week 7 is (almost) in the books, ahead of tonight's 8:15 p.m. ET Monday Night Football matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings. With plenty of gridiron action to celebrate on this victory Monday, it's a good thing secret handshakes never go out of style.

Celebrate good times: The best pass catchers and blockers in the league brought the heat during yesterday's National Tight Ends (TEs) Day festivities, with six TEs making it to the endzone. No gimmicks here.

Stick to the status quo: Quarterback (QB) Patrick Mahomes did Patrick Mahomes things against the LA Chargers yesterday, tossing for four touchdowns (TDs) and 424 yards in his squad's 31–17 win.

A big one in the win column: New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick silenced the haters, recording his 300th regular-season win with yesterday's 29–25 dub over their AFC East rival, the Buffalo Bills.

Hat trick: Chicago Bears running back D'Onta Foreman tallied a trifecta of TDs — including catching rookie QB Tyson Bagent's first NFL TD — as da Bears dominated the Las Vegas Raiders 30–12 yesterday.

Iron man injury: Due to lingering rib and hip injuries, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf missed a game for the first time in his five-year NFL career yesterday, snapping his consecutive game streak at 71.

🔥 NWSL Playoffs off to a thrilling start

No. 6 NJ/NY Gotham FC and No. 4 OL Reign clinched their semis spots over the weekend, defeating the No. 3 North Carolina Courage and No. 5 Angel City FC in their respective quarter-final matches. The postseason footy will take a quick break for the current international window and pick back up again with the semis on November 5th. Counting down the days.

🇯🇲 Reggae Girlz boycotting to end "cycle of mistreatment"

The Jamaican women's national soccer team has refused to play their upcoming games in response to "constant mistreatment" from the Jamaica Football Federation. The Reggae Girlz, who made it to the FIFA Women's World Cup (WWC) knockout stage for the first time this past August, claim the federation still hasn't paid them their full WWC earnings. Despicable.

🇨🇦 Christine Sinclair is hanging up her international cleats

The Canadian soccer legend will play her last game with CanWNT at the end of the year, retiring from international play as the world's all-time leading goal scorer (yep, women's and men's). Fortunately, this isn't the last we've seen of Sincy — she plans to suit up for at least one more season with the NWSL's Portland Thorns.

🆕 Vlatko Andonovski named Kansas City Current head coach (HC)

The former USWNT HC is returning to his NWSL roots and rejoining the Current. Andonvski led FC Kansas City (as the team was formerly known) to back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, prior to his tenure with the national team.
