Hi 101 Traders
Hope you're having an awesome day!
So far, we've delved into my background and shared tips and tools to kickstart your forex trading journey. Now, it's time to lift the curtain on my personal strategy that consistently generates profits, along with some key principles for successful trading.
After years of research, study, and practice from various sources and mentors, I've learned that simplicity is key in trading. Trading is complicated enough without succumbing to analysis paralysis or overcomplicated strategies.
I've personally crafted and refined a straightforward approach to day trading Forex, currently centering around one currency pair: GBPUSD.
Why trade just one pair?
Less is more. By focusing on one market for day trading, it's a simpler approach to understand how that pair moves and make accurate price predictions. Plus, as a full-time mom juggling day trading alongside parenting two boys, time is limited. However, day trading one pair allows for regular, consistent profits - it's all about working smarter, not harder.
How do I do this? I follow a set trading plan: My risk varies and adapts to current market conditions, but generally, I risk 1% of overall account equity per trade (different in my prop account, reflecting program rules/conditions).
How do I calculate trades? I use a combination of the following techniques: - Top-down analysis starting from the daily and planning trade entries on a faster timeframe, such as the 5-minute.
- Incorporating key levels from the daily timeframe along with institutional price levels.
- Utilizing the Fibonacci retracement tool to plan precise trade entries and exits.
- Incorporating time theory - I generally trade during times of high volume, such as the New York open session.
- Observing news - On days of high-impact news releases, I wait to see how the market responds.
Key principles: - Risk 1-2% per trade.
- KISS - Keep It Super Simple. Trading can be complicated enough.
- Trade what the current market is telling me, not what I want it to be.
That was a lot of information to absorb. How about a refreshing brew? In the next email, I've got something else exciting to share with you, so be on the lookout.
