But that surge of fear you are feeling has pushed bearishness to one of its highest levels in history.
Since 1987, the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) survey has asked individual investors - not professionals - where they think stocks will go over the next six months.
And in a recent survey more than 60% of respondents were bearish on stocks.
That kind of extreme has only happened six other times since 1987. And the results were phenomenal...
