As if on cue, gold surged to $3,500 but fell back, especially after digesting the President’s promise to “be nice” to China and Jerome Powell.
Bitcoin – “digital gold” – on the other hand, has been moving through the stock market turmoil to the beat of its own drum.  This chart suggests that what really moves bitcoin is global liquidity.
Liquidity has increased dramatically in the past few weeks as central bankers – outside of the Fed, at least – have “eased financial conditions.”
The key point: there’s a lag between the money spiogots and bitcoin moving higher.
If this chart holds, bitcoin could be in for one of its dizzying rallies starting soon, and one that could continue for months. If you’re inclined to trade crypto, plan accordingly. If you want to keep it simple… buy, hold, and enjoy the ride.
