How Price Suppression Works
Institutions don’t build or unload a large stock position all at once. If they did, price would move too fast and they would get poor fills.
So they use computerized trading algorithms to manage liquidity and control price impact. These algos can actually hold down the price of a stock while accumulating shares at the same time.
I call that price suppression.
Eventually, the buying pressure overcomes the suppression and price moves higher. That’s when an upside reversal hits. The same dynamic works in reverse before sharp downside moves.
