It's the grand finale!

That's right, the last weekend of the Milano Cortina Olympics has arrived (*sniffs*), but there's still a whole lot of hardware to be awarded before the Games come to a close on Sunday. And while you scroll the latest headlines, send us your favorite Olympic moment from the last two weeks. We're all in this together, after all.

🥇🏒 Never in doubt

Team USA celebrates after Megan Keller scores the Golden Goal at the Milano Cortina Olympics.

The GIST: It's not how you start, it's how you finish — and yesterday, Team USA women's hockey embraced the adage, posting a dramatic 2–1 overtime comeback to clinch their third-ever gold medal…all against their archrival Canada, no less. Here's how the historic dub went down.

💪 Captain America Hilary Knight leads U.S. to win: When you're the first American hockey player — woman or man — to compete in five Olympics, you know a thing or two about pressure, and Knight certainly met the moment. With Team USA trailing 1–0 for most of the game, Knight perfectly deflected a shot from newcomer Laila Edwards with 2:04 remaining to force overtime.

  • Then in 3-on-3 sudden death, three-time Olympian and defender Megan Keller scored an epic Golden Goal, playing hero for the heavily-favored red, white, and blue. Never back down, never what?

🥹 The end of an era: The story of this fierce hockey rivalry cannot be told without the aforementioned Knight and Canada's Marie-Philip Poulin. They've been the faces of women's hockey for the better part of two decades. Knight holds Team USA's Olympic scoring record; Poulin is the Olympics' all-time leading scorer. Together, they've transformed the game.

  • Sixteen years after the duo made their respective Olympic debuts in Vancouver, their final chapter was written yesterday: Though 34-year-old Poulin hasn't discussed her Olympic future just yet, this was Knight's final Games. Forever grateful to two of the GOATs.

Figure skating

🥇⛸️ This one was all about joy

The GIST: For the first time in 24 years, an American woman has won individual Olympic figure skating gold: Former retiree Alysa Liu rose to the occasion yesterday, clinching the title with a breathtaking freeskate. Grab some tissues because this story's inspiring as heck.

👏 Liu tops the podium two years after un-retiring: A child figure skating prodigy, Liu said goodbye to the sport at 16 years old following her Olympic debut at the 2022 Beijing Games, where she finished sixth. Suffering from serious burnout, Liu gave up skating entirely, but two years later, she called her former coaches and plotted a return — this time, on her terms.

  • Now 20, Liu just pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in American sporting history, from her surprise 2025 World Championships win to yesterday's head-first, fearless gold medal–winning free skate.
  • But perhaps what's been most impressive about Liu's journey is that it was never about winning. For Liu, competing in another Olympics was about staying present in the moment and skating with joy — the medal was a bonus.

☝️💐 One more thing: We'd be remiss not to mention Liu's teammate, Amber Glenn. Ahead of Tuesday's short program, it was Glenn and her impressive triple axel — not Liu — who was favored to win gold, but a jumping error cost her a spot on the podium and landed her in 13th place heading into the medal round.

Snapshots of The Day

🏒 On the heels of the women's golden moment, Team USA men's hockey returns to the ice today, facing Slovakia at 3:10 p.m. ET. If the boys win, they'll face the winner of today's Canada vs. Finland semi in the gold medal game Sunday at 8:10 a.m. ET. *knocks on wood*

🥉🏒 Switzerland rounded out the women's hockey podium, securing bronze after sharpshooting forward Alina Müller lit the lamp in overtime — her second career Olympic medal-clinching goal — to seal the 2–1 win over Sweden. So clutch.

⛷️ Ten-time Olympic gold medalist Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway can complete the cross-country skiing sweep if he wins his sixth gold of the Milano Cortina Olympics in the 50km mass start tomorrow at 5 a.m. ET.

  • Just how impressive has Klæbo been? Well, only one other Olympian — Winter or Summer — has won 10 or more gold medals in their career: American swimmer Michael Phelps. Pretty good company.

💨⛸️ American speed skater Jordan Stolz snagged his first silver medal of the Games yesterday, coming up short in the men's 1,500m. But he can still become the first men's speed skater since 1994 to win three golds at one Olympics if he wins tomorrow's mass start.

🥌 A spot in the women's curling gold medal game is on the line for Team USA, who'll face Switzerland in the semis today at 8:05 a.m. ET. Manifesting some déjà vu.

⛷️ American freestyle skiers Svea Irving and Kate Gray qualified for tomorrow's women's halfpipe final, joining top finisher Zoe Atkin of New Zealand and Eileen Gu of China in the 12-woman field. Steeze, loading.

🎿 The inaugural Skimo medals were awarded yesterday, with Switzerland's Marianne Fatton and Spain's Oriol Cardona Coll taking home women's and men's gold, respectively. It was an extra special moment for Cardona Coll, Spain's first Winter gold medalist since 1972.

🇺🇸 Dressing for revenge

Hilary Knight may have been the MVP of Team USA's gold medal game, but the MVP of the fans? That's Team USA defender Haley Winn's three older brothers, who have been throwing some legendary patriotic 'fits in support of their sister and her teammates, lighting up TikTok in the process. Which one is your favorite?
