A former Bloomberg analyst just made a controversial prediction. Food prices, energy bills, inflation, and rent are at an all time high and only getting worse. "While management repeatedly said that they viewed guidance as "prudent" given the difficult macro backdrop (which they are not assuming improves, nor do they see any improvement in sales productivity), we believe 2023 revenue guidance implies an unlikely material increase in new business signings from that seen in 2022. This significantly raises the risk profile of the stock, in our opinion," analysts said in a note.
In initial analyst responses, JPMorgan raised its target price for PayPal to $100 while Piper Sandler lowered its target price to $82. PayPal is trading flat in the pre-market, close to its $78.42 close Thursday.
