U.S. Desperately Seeks New Domestic Sources of Graphite for National Security

It's a serious issue...

Without the metal graphite, the $7 trillion electric vehicle transition would come to a screeching halt. Graphite (not lithium) is actually the largest component of EV batteries.

Right now, there are no producing graphite mines in North America. China dominates every stage of the graphite supply chain, threatening U.S. national security and economic prosperity.

That's why the White House deemed graphite an essential mineral in 2022, recommending expansion of domestic mining.

Measures like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act are also incentivizing battery makers to use raw materials from North America.
