Good morning!
Well, good morning to everyone except Luis Rubiales. The disgraced Spanish football federation (RFEF) president finally confirmed his resignation yesterday, 21 days after forcefully kissing Spanish women's national team star, Jenni Hermoso, during their FIFA Women's World Cup award ceremony.
- Waving him a rage-filled goodbye as we say hello to the new week…

Quote of the Day |
| Think of the protection afforded to powerful men when he is a) allowed to resign b) three weeks after an incident c) captured on video and shown around the world d) leading to protests and scores of resignations. Tell me again why women fear they'll never be believed |
| — The Athletic writer Katie Whyatt, speaking the truth after former RFEF president Rubiales stepped down. Rubiales may be out of a job, but he'll still likely have to answer to the law — Spanish prosecutors filed a lawsuit on Friday accusing him of sexual assault and coercion for his inappropriate behavior. Actions, meet consequences…hopefully. |

🎾 Ruling the court
The GIST: It was a historic weekend on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows, as No. 6 Coco Gauff and No. 2 Novak Djokovic were crowned US Open champions, their respective first and record-setting 24th Grand Slam victories. When in Queens, cue Queen.
Women's: Gauff topped now-No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a grueling three-set match on Saturday, becoming the youngest American to win the Open since her idol Serena Williams in 1999. The 19-year-old celebrated the monumental dub by calling her brother, thanking her parents, and shouting out her haters. Consider the mic dropped.
Men's: With No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz stunningly ousted in the semis on Friday, the path was clear for Djokovic, who bested No. 3 Daniil Medvedev in a brilliant straight-sets performance yesterday, making him the oldest US Open men's champion at 36-years-old. And with the victory, The Joker is now tied with Margaret Court for most major wins in the sport. Twenty-four and counting.
🏈 What you need to know from Week 1
The GIST: From stunning catches to lopsided beatdowns to downright zany plays, here's everything you need to know from an eventful Week 1 in the NFL. We missed you, football.
Mo money, mo problems: From highest-paid player in NFL history to…benched. That's exactly what happened to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback (QB) Joe Burrow in yesterday's brutal 24–3 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Just keep swimming: Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa might just be him. The fourth-year signal caller posted a whopping 466 yards and three touchdowns (TDs) in yesterday's explosive 36–34 win over the LA Chargers.
Injury bug, begone: Baltimore Ravens running back (RB) J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles in the third quarter of his team's 25–9 win over the Houston Texans and will miss the rest of the season.
New kid on the block: 2023 No. 1 overall pick, Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young, tossed his first career NFL TD to tight end Hayden Hurst, who promptly chucked the keepsake ball into the stands. Whoopsies.
Looking ahead: Week 1 saved one of the most anticipated matchups for last. QB Aaron Rodgers will make his regular-season NY Jets debut when the Green Machine host QB Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET. Out of the darkness and right into those Monday Night Football lights.
