After the first halving in 2012, that number was cut in half to 25…
In 2016, it was cut in half again to 12.5…
In 2020, it went down to 6.25.
Just recently, Bitcoin had its fourth halving. The number of coins released was cut again to just 3.125 every 10 minutes.
And it’s only going to get smaller from here.
In the end, the maximum number of Bitcoins we’ll ever see is 21 million.
At this moment, nearly 20 million Bitcoins are in circulation – meaning only 1 million more will be released.
